Two months ago, we took our website strategies and our brand of marketing mix to a whole new level with a new client that was not a service or retail online business. This was an offline and online virtual learning academy for grades kindergarten through 8th grade. The first day was spent on analyzing the existing website and what we found was a templated website front, where the home page could be fully optimized for search engines, but the rest ot the pages could not be fully optimized without going back to the original web-developer and hardcoding everything in. That company is based in the UK and were friendly enough to make changes we suggested, but it became apparent that the site owner would face an expensive ordeal. The software interfaced with education software that is critical to the school. The domain name was also a problem because if you did not know the name, it was unlikely you would find the site through search engines. What was uncovered during keyword research were several domain names that had natural traffic. Time was of the essence, so we decided to promote the domain name schoolk8.com because 'school k 8' is searched thousands of times per month. We chose another domain name that also receives natural traffic called elementaryonlineeducation.com. By blogging from both sites and anchor links back to the main site, we could double up the efforts to start with. The success would have to come from blogging from one blog and linking to schoolk8.com and treating that site as if it was part of the main site. It's been two months and schoolk8.com is on the first page of Google, Bing and Yahoo with the keyword phrase 'school k 8'. So, we have traffic pointing to the main school site through schoolk8.com. Our marketing strategies also include customizing Facebook fanpages and a customized Twitter page. The social networks are integrated into the blogs, and the blogs into Facebook to complete a 'network' of web properties that easily work together. This all inclusive marketing strategy has already proven itself with our clients that sell retail, and given a couple more months, we'll have proven it builds results for education sites as well!
