If you own a business that has an office or workspace, or into construction, it is imperative to stay on top of workplace health and safety rules. Such things as fire risk and presence of asbestos are obviously important, but actual health and safety training is critical to managing and lowering accident risk.  It is a great idea to have professional trainers that meet and exceed training requirements do the training.  It shows that your business truly cares about employees and can help boost morale, lower absences and increase profits by reducing future accidents by having a proactive approach to health and safety training.  Accident prevention means better business.  This is of paramount importance because  a business Owner, a Director or a Managing Agent can face prosecution or even imprisonment for failing to comply with the Fire Safety Order.  It is so important to train employees on health and safety issues on a regular basis, and the responsibility of keeping up with regular fire risk assessments puts a lot of stress and  demand on an owner or manager's time, that it is far better to have a professional company such as Veritas come in and lift the burden.  The following makes up what needs to be looked at when a fire risk assessment is done:

  • Identify hazards and sources of ignition
  • Assess whether any fire that could occur would endanger persons and their escape
  • Decide what action is required to reduce the risk of harm
  • Check compliance with statutory requirements (UK fire regulations)
  • Draw up prioritised fire risk action plan to resolve deficiencies
  • Establish fire risk assessment review dates
It is not hard to see the importance of compliance and how much workplace health and safety training can reduce costs and boost business.  It is just as important as training and coaching a sales team to build business.

What is Web 2.0

Web 2.0 is in itself a marketing mix of social media network activities, video, blogging, public relations and press releases, email marketing, and targeted advertising (ppc). The catalyst for a successful launching is using a promotional marketing incentive to attract attention. This creates the ‘buzz’ for press releases and cross promotion over social media networks. The social media advertising is benign, very low key. People want to find good information from people they get to know and trust. Get to know people who are interested in what you do and give them good content that helps them with what’s going on in their lives. It really is a ‘give to get’ social arena. A highly customized business blog will help you become an authority site, if you post useful content. There will be many opportunities for people visiting your blog or meeting you through a social network to link to your site when they know about your services or products and trust buying from you.

Make a Living Running a Blog

Blogging doesn't require a lot – get cheap web hosting, set up a blog, and start posting regularly. Blogging is not only fun but it’s also an opportunity to make money. While there are bloggers who barely make enough to pay for their cheap web hosting plan, there are also many bloggers who make much more than the monthly fee of their provider. Matter of fact, they are making a living by running a blog! You can make money from your blog in many ways and some of the easiest ones are:

• Put up ads on your blog. Using ads is the easiest way to make money from your blog. It is true that ads aren't the most profitable way to use your space but still they are better than nothing. There are two basic kinds of ads – ads that pay a fixed amount per 1,000 visitors (or the so called CPM ads) and ads that pay when somebody clicks on them (or CPC ads). As a rule, CPC ads are more profitable but this depends on many factors. CPM ads pay relatively low but if you have lots of traffic, they could be profitable. The best you can do is put both CPM and CPC ads and see which one that performs the best for you.

• Become an affiliate. Affiliate programs are much more profitable than CPM and CPC ads but they also require more effort on your side. Join a couple of good affiliate networks, pick some top selling stuff, promote it – and hopefully you will get to reap the benefits. Alternatively, you can sell your own products on your blog. You might have doubts if an E-Commerce blog is a good idea but for many bloggers this is the perfect choice, so you might want to consider it as well.

• Promote your services. Many bloggers use their blog to promote themselves. While this is not an opportunity for everybody, if you are a programmer, writer, designer, accountant, musician, lawyer, architect or any other kind of freelancer, your blog could become a valuable promotion tool. In fact, thousands of blogs exist mainly because their owner uses them as his or “agency”. Your blog can bring you many clients but if it is messy, then you might lose many more clients, so think twice before you start promoting your services from your blog. These three possibilities are by no means the only ways to earn money from your blog. They might however be the easiest and relatively profitable ones, so why don't you give them a try? You might not make your first million from blogging but when you think about all the bloggers that are making full-time income from a single blog, it does make sense to try. Blogging is easy, fun and profitable – the perfect job, right?

Run a Business or Go Back to School

Coaching and TrainingWeb site owners may consider becoming their own web developer with good training and coaching, with the idea it will save money.  To get anything out of this type of training, it's better to have some background in html, php, xhtml.  The amount of time it takes to learn to develop a web site or a customized business blog can take more than a year.  In the meantime, the web site isn't producing much of anything due to its development and lack of a marketing strategy in place.  And, in most training/coaching programs, the site owner must do the actual building.  It is pretty common to see web sites published without their meta tags or sitemaps in place because the site owner (student) is still learning.  A training and coaching program can run into the thousands.  No matter how great a web site looks, it won't be able to compete without a powerful web 2.0 marketing strategy in place.  If you started an online business and are experiencing a slow start, the solution is to employ a company that implements the internet marketing strategy and builds the customized tools necessary.  This saves valuable time and is more economical.
