Blog Customization and Universal Search

Google made a lot of changes in May, introducing their Universal Search in a way that gives users more choice in defining their search. The left side of the Google search page now has Universal Search, Google Squared, and a Search Options panel. This is all considered critical to the future success of the updated search engine. When a business blog is developed from the ground up, the blog customization performed now has to include research on how keyword phrases chosen for their compeititiveness and search engine traffic are going to be affected by the new options for people finding what they want. There is the possiblity that Google is splitting up search pages in order to create more adwords pay-per-click opportunities to sell ads, but at the same time splitting up the traffic volume. It seems a strategy to attract more search marketers and pull marketers away from competitors Bing and Yahoo. Many search engine marketers have pointed out that Bing delivers more quality buyers, but don't have the traffic Google does. Now with more choice on how you search, this could backfire on Google because they're splintering the traffic volume on any given keyword phrase while the number of buyers per thousand searches is not as good as Bing's to begin with.
