A customized business blog relies on creating great content for effective website marketing by linking keyword phrases in the posts to the most relevant page on the website it is supporting. It is an incoming link to the website, which search engines look for in measuring the importance of one website over another. The key is to deliver engaging content that attracts readers and search engines alike.

The blog customization process is a lot more involved than taking a blog platform such as Joomla or WordPress and designing something pleasing and fun to look at. The first step is a concentrated effort on keyword research, and then integrating its results into the meta tags and on-page content of the blog. Now, fresh content is created and published through a search engine friendly blog and its links tie into the website being promoted. The effectiveness of the inbound links also relies on how well the website page being linked, has it's existing content and meta tags tuned in with the new content pointing to it. This is what will determine the effectiveness of the link-building campaign.

There are guidelines to adhere to in creating the blog postings. They're not hard and fast rules, but staying reasonably within these guidelines will help produce page ranking growth for the blog and the online business it is supporting with content.

Title. Use the keyword phrases the post is focusing on in the title of the content. The closer to the front of the title the keywords are, the more effective.

Meta Description. Make the presentation of keywords in the meta description influence searchers to click on search listing because it best describes what they're looking for. Keep the meta description under 165 characters (about 20 words), so the full description is visible in the search result.

Content. Search Engines are 'happiest' when fresh and unique content is frequently posted. I suggest a minimum of 125-150 words to support one keyword phrase that's anchor-linked to the most relevant website page. Always stay centered on the topic of the desired keyword phrases. A more in-depth post that runs 200-350 words will support a second keyword phrase. Always link to a different website page than the first link to be effective. Keyword research is needed to find the very best phrases for what the main website is about, and the phrases have varying degrees of search volume and competitiveness. That being said, I will use one keyword phrase that may not get many searches but the website has the best chance of getting to be found under in a short period of time. I will us the second keyword phrase that gets high traffic, is highly competitive, and will take more time to show up higher in the search rankings. In this way, I'm working for search volume that's attainable in a short time while also working on high traffic, high competition phrases that will take a long time to break into the top ten.

Keyword Frequency. The number of times targeted keywords appear on the page can help boost relevancy because the repetition affects ranking, but don't over do this because Google could penalize your page.

Page Links. Inbound links from relevant sites are big 'votes' for popularity when coming from good PR sites and authority sites. These sites help raise a site's significance, especially when the link is a keyword phrase and is located in the text content. Link to relevant interior pages using naturally relevant anchor text helps search engines find and discern the depth of a site's content and gives a bit more weight to the keyword phrases used if the phrases are linking to relevant content. Bing is now providing search for Yahoo users, which adds up to a significantly sized pool of searchers outside of Google. Outbound links to authority sites and other relevant sites carry weight with the Bing search engine. These are the main tenants of making website marketing successful.
