Dairy Queen Jumps into Social Media Advertising

Dairy Queen gets into Social Media AdvertisingYou've probably heard about or been to a Dairy Queen.  You might not know the company is part of the Berkshire-Hathaway company run by Warren Buffet. Dairy Queen has been a traditional advertiser in print, cable TV and radio.  The new marketing strategy is running on prime time TV and a series of 'webisodes' or series of online video clips, which can be watched on DQ.com and on the brand's Facebook page. All told, there are to be 20 to 30 Webisodes by end of the campaign.  The commercials, whether on TV or online, all feature a make-believe family, the Blizzmanns, and their quest to follow a Blizzardmobile as it travels around the country.

Although the family is fictitious, the Blizzardmobile is real; it will visit 25 markets through the summer and offer visitors games, music and free samples. The online video will offer more casual, less scripted looks at the Blizzmanns and the truck. Consumers will be invited to contribute their own video clips demonstrating how much they like Blizzards, he added. There will also be video and photo contests for consumers, to be held on the Facebook page and on YouTube.  Social media networks is where people spend the most time and follow just what they're interested in.  The last three weeks Facebook has surpassed Google's traffic.  If you have an online business and know the demographics of people that would be interested, it only makes sense to get your customized business blog in front of them to share content that is informative and engaging.  Ecommerce sites do not have the same kind of access a business blog does.  In setting up a blog, there are many important ingredients that go into blog customization that go beyond making a blog look great.  Business blog customization starts with keyword research as a foundation and builds up from there.
